Post-Hospital Follow Up Visits

After a visit to the hospital, you always hope that will be the end of it, and you can go back to living your life as usual. Still, there is always the risk that the illness or problem may persist or that there may be complications from the procedures. This is why, after a trip to the hospital, it’s recommended to visit your local San Antonio clinic for routine post-hospital follow-up visits to avoid these issues.

A post-hospital follow-up visit is a visit you make to your primary care physician after receiving treatment for a serious medical issue in a hospital. These visits let your doctor evaluate your condition following your treatment or procedure to ensure you aren’t experiencing any severe side effects or complications. They also make sure you aren’t going into remission and provide the opportunity to recommend any additional rest and recuperation practices. Your doctor can also recommend any additional treatment or medication to make sure you continue to heal properly.

It may seem inconvenient or unnecessarily expensive to go back to the doctor for a follow-up after being treated, but it may save money and time in the long run. Recent studies have shown that going in for a follow-up visit within seven days of your hospital visit dramatically reduces the likelihood of readmission to the hospital. Your doctor will also have more information about how you’re recovering than the hospital doctors did, so they can recommend more effective recovery strategies.

After a visit to the hospital, you’ll want to recover and have your life go back to normal as soon as possible. That’s why University Heights Medical Associates is here to help.
